Thanks for the fast and free info. Good to know. I have sold over a hundred dollars worth of stuff in six auctions. If I would have thrown the stuff away I wouldn't have missed any of it. As a scrapper NUTHIN gets thrown away though. I am using this as an experiment. I am home with the kids for the major portion of the day so I am limited as to what I can really do. I had two major health issues last year. Found out I was diabetic and almost died. Took months to feel right. So now here I am adjusting to a new role as a stay at home Dad. Really strange. It is like learning a new skill I have no experience in. Coming home from work Dad's have a different set of responsibilities than a Dad that is home all day. Being a contractor I dealt with immature grown men and idiot customers. Now I deal with needs of my kids and at three Declan is a full time project. I love being home with the kids and my wife makes good money we are not hurting at all.

I am more focused on wanting what I have today than getting ahead. I had a life altering experience when I got sick. Life is just not them same better and different but not the same.

I am still scrapping and will forever. I am trying to see if Ebay as a reseller is an option. It is something I can do from home. And when those auctions close I get excited like a kid. I am testing the waters. It is at the hobby stage now. I can't see how I can't make good money t it in the future though. The learning curve is something to overcome, but hey before I came to this forum I didn't have a clue what a Tantalum cap was now I see them from across the room, LOL.

Anyway thank you guys. I feel like this forum is my new bar being sober 8 years. It is where I hang out. You guys are my friends. We think alike. I enjoy the conversations even if they are in threads.

Depends upon the agency and thier requirements. If its an auction, the terms should be easily available.

If you read old posts, you will find there are several members that regularly buy from government sources. Chat with them a little bit. If they think you are trying to better yourself and not take shortcuts, they may help.

Ok I just sold 4 ceramic CPUs but I think I may have sold them kind of on the low side. They weighed in at 3.2 Oz. and cost me $2.64 shipping. Here is my link. Please criticize it because I'm newer to this.

Lets check my math. 3.2oz/16oz = 0.20(20%). $30(current scrap for ceramic cpus) X 20% = $6

So $13.95 Gross sale - 12%(eBay/paypal fee) = $12.27 - $2.64(shipping) = $9.63 Net not counting packaging and time selling.

$9.63 - $6 = $3.63 additional profit selling on ebay

So did you do well, I think maybe you did. I didn't compare to other recent sales of ceramic cpu's on ebay. The really good news is you didn't loose money, you gained experience and you see other things to consider. There's nothing like trying it out to see if it works.

I would suggest you look at it and decide if you could have better spent your time working on something else that would have produced more than the $3.63 difference. Personally since I am restricted on what I can do selling and getting the extra $3 is sometimes as good as I can do. 73, Mike
